Queensland Raceway, 21 June 2026. Close competition at Queensland Raceway has the championship battle on a knife’s edge in two of the three Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli Australasia categories at the conclusion of Round 4.
Another clean race with door-to-door action throughout the field excited the crowd gathered for the second day of Ferrari Festival Brisbane, but it was the same winners from Saturday who eventually came out on top on Sunday.
Trofeo Pirelli. Damien Hamilton (Ferrari Richmond) secured a second victory for the weekend after 30 minutes of racing. A trio of drivers battled each other close behind Hamilton in the early phase of Race 2 while yesterday’s winner remained clear of the action, easing out a gap by the chequered flag to win by three seconds.
The battle for the remaining podium positions was as close as it gets between Jim Pollicina (Ferrari Sydney) and Steve Wyatt (Barbagallo Ferrari), with the duo swapping positions numerous times.
In the closing stages, Wyatt ran wide at Turn 4, allowing Pollicina to take the position and hold it until the end. Wyatt in turn held off Enzo Cheng (Ferrari Sydney) for the final podium spot as Adnan Sibai (Ferrari Sydney) rounded out the field.
Coppa Shell. Going into Sunday it was tied for the lead of the Coppa Shell class between David Trewern (Ferrari Brisbane) and Masahiro Taguchi (Ferrari Brisbane). Trewern executed a fast and controlled performance that ultimately delivered him the race win and a narrow championship lead.
The racing was tight and dynamic throughout the Coppa Shell field. Taguchi made a crucial pass with no time to spare, clinching second place and limiting Trewern’s lead to a single point going into the season finale.
Following Taguchi’s pass Mark Hudders (Ferrari Sydney) had to settle for third ahead of Aemel Nordin (Ferrari Adelaide), Jason Yu (Ferrari Richmond), Tony Baildon (Ferrari Brisbane) and David Frish (Ferrari Sydney).
Trofeo Pirelli 488. Ross Tomain (Ferrari Brisbane) extended his winning streak to six races after mixing it with some of the 296 Challenge entries early on. Tomain’s dominant performance ensures his title lead cannot be beaten with one round left to race at Sydney Motorsport Park.
Stephen Coe (Ferrari Richmond) finished a gallant second, bolstering his experience in the 488 Challenge car with a view to a strong finish at the final round.
Next round. Ferrari Challenge Australasia will host Round 5 of the 2026 season at Sydney Motorsport Park as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries on September 18-20.
